It was a heartbreaking loss for the Philippines yesterday at the semifinals of the AFC Challenge Cup as the final score between them and Turkmenistan was PHL 1 – 2 TKM.
The Philippines lead early on with Phil Younghusband scoring a goal at the 25th minute in the first half. The score continued until the 80th minute when Turkeminstan took at shot at goal, and again delivered at the 86th minute.
To cap it off, goal keeper Neil Etheridge was given a red card and suspended from the game in the final crucial minutes.
A game fought hard, despite the absence of two key players Angel Guirado and James Younghusband, who were being sanctioned for already receiving two yellow cards from previous games.
On Monday, the boys will battle for third place.
A superb performance from the Philippines and made history in football.
